Continuing to break new ground in hazardous location electrical engineering, Appleton introduced its Mercmaster G3 Series lighting fixture, the first 100-watt HPS explosion-proof lighting fixture to achieve a NEC-501 "T3" temperature rating (181-200 degrees Celsius). The cool running fixture is engineered for Class 1, Div. 2 hazardous locations requiring a low operating temperature, and is especially effective in refineries, petrochemical facilities and heavy process industries where a T3 maximum temperature rating is mandated. Higher wattage provides for greater flexibility in lighting system design because fewer luminaries may be needed, translating into lower installation and maintenance costs, with reduced downtime and less replacement lamps and parts.
